Great Ideas Booth Showcase

The Great Ideas Booth Showcase had many beautiful setups and ideas presented and in my opinion these are the ones that present themselves with the most potential to make it big.

1st Place

Reus3D

Reus3D is a company that has the intention of cleaning and ridding our world of plastic trash a few bottles at a time. They want to get bottles that are just laying all over the place and then turn those bottles into the spool used for 3D printers! Through this they are going to innovate a new way of recycling and help reduce the amount of plastic garbage all over the place. However, this does take a lot of money so in order to buy the materials to turn the bottles into spool, the have been selling bracelets! Their bracelets cost 75 cents to make and they sell them for $10 which is a $9.25 profit! They have already made over $100 and are planning to contact other countries like the Philippines or India where there are many bottles just sitting there being used and they want to get companies in these countries to get on board with their ideas because with 6 bottles they can make 10 ft of spool and sell it for $30! Reus3D has the potential to reduce our world’s trash and make it into something profitable. I think they need to work on how they can use different kinds of trash to use or to find a way to incorporate them. I think they also should consider maybe, after getting a lot of money, consider going to places like the Pacific garbage patch and help reduce the plastics in there too.

2nd Place

Beach Queen Earrings

Beach Queen Earrings is a company that takes all plastics and turns them into beautiful jewelry. And the best part is that is is totally safe for the environment! There is no melting to release toxins into the environment because they grind up the plastics into super small pieces and then drop these pieces into a silicon mold and pour in resin and simply wait for it to dry and they turn them into earrings! They cost 25 cents to make and $50 to purchase all the materials at the beginning and they sell them for $9-$19 and they already have people in different countries falling in love with them and they are just working on shipping packaging! They are turning trash that people just throw out, into beautiful jewelry that people buy back! I think the only thing they need to work on is to maybe consider making other jewelry such as necklaces or rings since the designs are so pretty. I do believe this is going to help reduce the plastics in our environment and spread around the world.

3rd Place

Desperate Surfers

Desperate Surfers is a Young Entrepreneurs company and they are wanting to create a magnetic and waterproof pocket on swim shorts! They have noticed that zippers rust, pockets let water in, and sometimes phone cases don’t always work, so they want that extra layer of protection! The magnets are strong in staying shut but can still be opened when needed to. They still need a prototype and need to test it out, but they have seen through other waterproof cases that this type of mechanism works very well. And they also have the protection of being right on your body. Lanyards and other cases can be dropped and cause you to lose your phone, but with this technology you have your phone on your side at all times as long as you aren’t surfing giant waves. They are mostly targeting snorkelers, swimmers, and surfers who won’t be surfing waves like the Eddie. I think this is a great idea to use but I think they need to have that extra layer, maybe a velcro strap over the top of it just to make sure that the pocket definitely stays closed.
